Geraldine Montano

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa — Services for Geraldine Montano, 65, will be 11 a.m., Saturday, June 18, at Good Shepherd Church, Pinehaven. Burial will be at Garcia Ranch, Pinehaven.

Montano died May 3, 2011, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was born Feb. 19, 1936, in Pinehaven.
Montano became ill five years ago and was moved to a care home near her daughter.

Survivors include her daughters, Gatalina Hiffernan of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Veronica of Las Vegas, Nev.; sons, Gilbert Olguin of Virginia, Ralph Montano of Grants, Ruben Olguin of Germany, EJ Olguin of Oklahoma; sisters, Stella Montano of Phoenix, Pefitia Sandoval of Albuquerque; brother, Ernie Montano of Lakeside, Ariz.; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.

Montano was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Rosenda Montano; daughter, Armenia Martinez; sons, Gerrado, George, Jackie Olguin; sister, Laura Villanueva; brothers, Ralph Montano, Leo Montano.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Elena Bowers residence, Pinehave, following service.

Eugene Robbins Jr.

WINDOW ROCK — Services for Eugene Perry Robbins Jr., 38, will be 10 a.m., June 17, at Good Shepherd Mission, Fort Defiance. The Rev. Eric Heidecker will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michaels Cemetery, St. Michaels. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m., June 17, at Good Shepherd Mission.

Robbins died June 10, 2011, in Phoenix. He was born Aug. 26, 1972, in Fort Defiance, into the Sioux People Clan for the Navajo Weaver/Zia People Clan.

Robbins attended Window Rock High School and truck driving school for his CDL. He was a copier tech. He was employed with Gallup Business Machine. His hobbies included fixing cars.

Survivors include his wife, Alvina Begay; daughter, Iris Tristan N. Robbins; mother, Delores Robbins; brothers, Ross Robbins Sr., Michael Robbins; sisters, Donna Robbins, Katherine Robbins, Michelle Robbins.

Robbins was preceded in death by his father, Eugene R. Robbins Sr.; Katherine Robbins, Marjorie Hopkins.

Pallbearers will be Ross Robbins, Darryl Lawless, Griffin V. Begay, Allison L. Begay, Fred Stevens the fifth, Kyle Watchman.

The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Michaels Chapter House, following services.
Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Francis Smith

HOUCK — Funeral services for Francis Kee Smith, 58, will be 10 a.m., Friday, June 17, at St. Anslem Catholic Church. Burial will be in Houck Cemetery.

Smith died June 14, 2011, in Gallup. He was born July 17, 1952, in Fort Defiance, into the One Who Walks Around People Clan for the Salt Water People Clan.

Smith graduated from Many Farms High School in 1971 and attended Tsaile Dine College from 1974-1975.

Survivors include her mother, Isabelle S. Dale of Shiprock; brothers, Frank Smith of Aneth, Utah, Tommy Youngbear of Querino Canyon, Ed Smith of Gallup, Larry Smith of Shiprock; sister, Fannie Begay of Shiprock; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Smith was preceded in death by her father, Tom Kee Smith; sister, Joann Toney.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Houck Chapter House, following services.

Renee Smith

OAK SPRINGS — Funeral services for Renee Smith, 35, will be 1 p.m., June 17, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Gallup. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Gallup. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., June 17, at Cope Memorial.

Smith died June 12, 2011, in Lake Placid, Fla. She was born Oct. 22, 1975, in Gallup, into the Red Bottom People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Smith graduated from Window Rock High School in 1995. At the time of her death, she was employed with the Seminole Tribe of Florida. She was a member of several rodeo associations, Indian junior rodeo association, western jr. rodeo association, central jr. rodeo association, Rocky Mountain rodeo association and a current card holder for the INFR Tour 2011.

Survivors include her son, Olin B. Murphy; daughters, Peyton T. Murphey, Dillion S. Ball, Casey W. Ball; parents, Rena and John Smith; brothers, Don Smith, Dean Smith; sisters, Regina “Sissy” Smith-Talkalai; grandmother, Maggie Smith.

Smith was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hottie and Sherman Haskie, Herbert George Smith.

Pallbearers will be Robert Smith Sr., Harold Smith, Tommy Smith, Jonas Smith, Marvin Becenti, Bobby Becenti Jr.

The family will receive relatives and friends at John and Rena Smith’s residence, Oak Springs, following services.

Cope Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
